Once upon a time

The latest art project in sixth grade involved inspiration from Canadian author and illustrator Barbara Reid. Barbara Reid uses Plasticine, a brand of clay, to illustrate her books. So, to celebrate World Book Day on April 23rd, our students brought their favourite children's book from home and recreated the book cover using Plasticine.

Working with Plasticine involves many techniques, such as kneading, rolling, sticking and mixing different colours of Plasticine. The students first started with one colour to make the background of the book cover and added layers of Plasticine until they completed the foreground.

All of the book covers are on display at the entrance to our school. They look fantastic!
