Peace Day 2018

The 6th grade students at CEIP de Chans-Bembrive celebrated Peace Day by illustrating the lyrics from John Lennon´s famous song "Imagine". The students also researched the life of John Lennon and brought biographies to class. Later, they created posters about his early life and childhood, adult life, music career, and death using this information.

Have a look at the video below showing all of their hard work!

THE WORD COLLECTOR

The Word Collector is a fabulous book about a young girl named Luna who shares her love of words with the world. Luna collects beautiful, kind, loving words and spreads them throughout the world, sharing peace, love, and brotherhood instead of hate, violence and fear. The 5th grade students studied this book as part of a cross-curricular bilinigual project in their Educational Values class in Gallego and in English in Art class to celebrate Peace Day. After studying the English translation in Art the students created their own version of the book. The drawings in the video below were all created by the 5th grade students. They worked very hard and the book turned out fantastic! Great job 5th grade!

PLASTICINE PEACE PROJECT

This year for the Day of Peace, the sixth grade students made pictures with plasticine. First, we looked at the works of Barbara Reid. Ms. Reid is an artist and writer from Canada. She makes picture books with beautiful paintings. All of her paintings are made with plasticine. We watched videos of Barbara Reid working and learned her technique. It was almost time to start making our plasticine paintings, but first we needed inspiration! We chose scenes from the Michael Jackson music video “Heal the World.” The song is about peace and making the world a better place for children. After watching the music video and choosing images, it was time to make the picture. We started with the background and the sky. It was hard work but the results were beautiful! At the end of the project, each student chose words related to peace and used plasticine to write them on the picture. These are the Peace projects after discovering Barbara Reid´s

PEACE SIGNS T-SHIRTS

We've been celebrating peace day in school! The children in 4a and 4b designed their very own t-shirts. They used the peace symbol as a design, and they learned the names of the things they were drawing. The t shirts look great! Which one would you wear on peace day?
