This year
with the fifth grade students we made a gingerbread city! The students worked
in groups of three or four to create one building for the gingerbread city and
some gingerbread people. Each group brought in one shoe box and we covered the
shoe boxes in foam to create hotels, a museum, a hospital, a train station, and
even a University! The students were so creative and did a wonderful job. We have some amazing artists in 5th
grade!

4th Grade - Snowman Merry Christmas!
In November we watched "The Snowman" by Raymond Briggs with the 4th grade students. It is an animated film with no dialogue. The story involves a boy who makes a snowman during the day and that same night the snowman comes alive. The boy shows the snowman his home and the snowman takes the boy to the forest to meet his snowman family. After watching the movie the 4th grade students had to invent their own snowman or snowwoman. The students then wrote a small paragraph describing their snowman. We had a great time and the project was a smashing success!

XMAS PHOTOCALL
This Christmas the 6th grade students worked to make a photo call that the whole school could enjoy! The 6th grade students worked in groups to create different characters from Christmas such as Santa Claus & Mrs. Claus, a snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, a gingerbread man, and even an elf!
Some groups also drew and painted a Christmas scene for the background of the photo call. Good job 6th grade! The whole school has been able to take pictures and have fun with the work you did in Art class!

XMAS ALPHABET PROJECT
The children of 4A and 4B have been studying a christmas alphabet. We made a big poster with 5 Christmas Trees on it. Each tree has 5 or 6 letters of the alphabet, and the children each chose what letter they would like to use. They then decorated Christmas Baubles with drawings of the words their letter stands for. The baubles feature all the christmas vocabulary, including Angel, Presents, Father Christmas and Joy.
The Christmas Trees look great, and really festive!
Merry Christmas everyone!

IDEAS FOR CHRISTMAS CRAFTS
Christmas is the perfect time to settle down to some good kids crafts: the days are short, the cold discourages playing outside, crafting will keep your kids busy and take away some of their impatience and excitement while they wait for Christmas Day to arrive, and with families and friends visiting your house there is no better time to display some of your children's talents proudly!Xmas crafts

It's Christmas time!!!!

Everyone may celebrate the holidays differently, but the most important part is that they are celebrating. Indeed, when it comes to Christmas, many are the ways that people mark the holidays around the world. Whether it's dressing up like Santa Claus, covering your house with lights, or eating a special meal, the holidays are all about traditions, family, and, hopefully, happiness. That is the reason why our next project will be "Christmas around the world". We will learn lots of things about different countries
